"It is art that
makes life, makes interest, makes importance, for our consideration
and application of these things, and
I know of no substitute whatever for the force and beauty
of its process."
Henry James - July 10, 1915

This gallery ranks with the Prado in Madrid containing one
of the world's most exceptional collections of European and
American art from the middle ages to the present. The Gallery
offers Italian, Flemish, Spanish and Greek art and masters
such as Raphael, Titian, El Greco, Vermeer, and the only
Leonardo Da Vinci painting in the western hemisphere, are
within its massive collection. American artists Gilbert Stuart,
John Singer Sargent and James McNeill Whistler are also represented.
The works are so valuable that the building itself has a
unique design without windows. The sun rays, harmful to paintings,
are filtered through skylights at the top of the museum and
the air is humidity controlled. After viewing such masters
you can elegantly dine next to a waterfall within the museum.
